Nuove dichiarazioni di Bardem

Nel 2003 Antonio Banderas è stato il protagonista del musical "Nine" che si è tenuto per una intera stagione al teatro O'Neill di New York ed ha riscosso un enorme successo. Da quando Bob Marshall ha espresso il desiderio di farne un film le voci riguardanti il cast si rincorrono e le polemiche non esitano a scatenarsi. Per esempio, si è parlato della possibilità che Xavier Bardem interpreti sullo schermo il ruolo che è stato di Antonio. A queste voci Xavier ha risposto da vero singore:

"He (Antonio Banderas) was a master on that stage and that's pretty difficult. I don't know what's going to happen with "Nine," but I don't think that anybody can take the position or the place that Antonio Banderas has in this and in any other market, because he has been a pioneer. For all of the actors that have come behind him, that's a great favor, what he did. He was the first person who took the bags, the luggage, and went to a foreign country without speaking any words (of that language) and making a career. That's something that we should be really, really thankful for."
